SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE

About Us & Hemp

EARTH-FRIENDLY

Our Story: Started in Salt Lake City, Utah, early 2005 by Eric VandenBerg.

Created from a strong passion for the Earth, hemp and goods made socially responsible in the U.S.A. We initially began with just our website and contract labor but we now have our own shop to do our manufacturing in house. We work hard on developing products that are of the highest quality and comfort and we honor that with our limited lifetime warranty. We are just getting started and will be continually refining, adding, and developing new products for YOU, and for a healthier US. Join us and our movement.

Our Commitment: To offer higher quality products and lower prices by being the manufacture and retailer.

In addition to producing goods that are built to last, built with love, and built in the U.S.A. We commit to you and the community. We ensure you that we will provide you with nothing but the best customer service; use only the highest quality fabrics and fills the world has to offer; and maintain ethical business practices that will only help, not hurt the environment or any other human being. We use recycled products; we minimize waste and recycle the rest; we purchase wind power and carbon offsets and will continue stepping up our efforts and involvement in the community.

Our Mission: To educate and inspire the world to use alternatives to our common environmentally degrading products.

Emphasizing hemp, of course :) Certain conventional crops like un-organic cotton, are simply over used. They require too much water and a plethora of pesticides and fertilizers to grow. When we have a great plant like hemp, its hard not to want to spread the word about how it can benefit all of us in so many ways. It is time to change our lifestyles and reduce the damage we are causing ourselves, the Earth, and future generations. Lets help each other make the most of it.

Our Dream: To develop the most comfortable collection of sustainable home furnishings and accessories available.

As we pursue this dream we aim to achieve a number of other goals as well. There is a long road ahead for all of us, particularly us friends of the Earth, but we hope to one day have a catalytic effect on the availability, variety, and affordability of all-natural home furnishings. We will strive to reach higher for all of us. We dream of a more comfortable life for everyone. Our line of Dream products takes comfort to a whole new level.

About Hemp: Possibly the most sustainable and versatile plant in the entire world.

The hemp plant is a solution. It has the potential to help our country solve alot of issues. It can be a tool to further our goals in the energy crisis as a great ethanol producing biomass source. It can boost agriculture and help end government farming subsidies. Hemp is also a great self-sufficient, rotational crop, and is actually profitable to Americans. As a textile, it would help alleviate problems associated with traditionally grown cotton; a very thirsty plant, and synthetic fabrics; un-sustainable and quickly building up in our landfills. We can save our soil, water, and air with this plant. We can be independent from foreign oil, a variety of chemicals, and save alot of money in the process. The versatility of the plant is amazing.

  1. Hemp actually grows tall enough to absorb atmospheric carbon.
  2. Hemp can produce 250% more fiber than cotton, on the same amount of land. It is softer and more durable.
  3. Hemp does not need pesticides, insecticides, or herbicides to grow. It is naturally weed and bug resistant. Traditional cotton growing accounts for 10% of world pesticide consumption and 25% insecticide use.
  4. Hemp does not need fertilizer or much water, and replenishes nutrients in the soil through leaf shedding and deep taproots. Cotton uses 1/3lb of fertilizer to produce just one tee shirt, leeches soil of nutrients and uses too much water.
  5. Hemp is naturally resistant to mold and UV light, making it great outdoors and on the boat. It is 3 times the tensile strength as cotton, warmer and will not stretch. Cotton harbours moisture which promotes mold growth and allergens.
  6. 1 acre of hemp can produce as much paper as 4 acres of trees, and needs 4 to 7 percent less chemicals to break down the glue like lignin that binds the pulp fibers.
  7. Hemp is a lighter and stronger material than lumber. Hemp fiberboard produced by Washington State University was found to be twice as strong as wood based fiber board.
  8. Hemp seed contains all the essential amino acids neceesary to maintain a healthy life. 65% of the protein is globulin edestin, more digestable than any other plant protein. It is also the highest source of essential fatty acids in the entire plant kingdom.
  9. Hemp is not marijuana and attempting to smoke it will get you sick. It even contains an antipcychoactive ingredient called cannabidiol. This inhibits THC, the active ingrediant in marijuana.
